Our 6000 acres of land consists of diverse grasses, shrubs, forests, wetlands, creeks and rivers. Over 70% of our land is open and used for adaptive/planned grazing. This type of grazing technique ultimately contributes to healthier soil due to animal impact, fertilizer (poop), and the soil armour that is layed (plants that decay). We do not use any synthetic chemicals or fertilizer on any of our land as we strive to work with nature on nature’s terms.
We have an Environmental Farm Plan in place with the Ministry and have committed to approaches and strategies that will make a difference on our farm, to our soils, and to our local environment, in an impactful way.

Regenerative Agriculture – this is a conservation and rehabilitation approach that allows us to focus on:
– soil health and fertility (minimal disturbance, soil armour)
– biodiversity of plants and animals
– composting

Adaptive Grazing – short, high density grazing periods which allow us to:
– provide animals with constant access to a fresh variety of grasses, legumes, and other forages while also allowing optimal recovery time for all plants on our pasture lands

Riparian Areas – in order to preserve the natural integrity of our riparian areas we:
– use portable watering systems to minimize animal trampling and manure depositing
– avoid the use of chemicals/fertilizers
– work to maintain vegetative cover over the soil throughout the year
